Carlos Teixeira, PhD

Carlos specializes in Systems Design. He teaches graduate courses, advises doctoral students on strategic design in innovation, and directs both the PhD program and the Sustainable Solutions Action Lab. As the founder of ORGE Innovation Consulting, Carlos guides global organizations in leveraging design for innovation.

With a doctorate from ID and degrees in design from Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro, Carlos's academic journey is extensive. Before his 2016 appointment at ID, he contributed significantly to the Parsons School of Design, earning a Distinguished Teaching Award in 2014 for his innovative pedagogy.

Carlos's research spans design strategy, open innovation, and sustainable solutions, focusing on design's impact on community well-being through interconnected systems. His work, including the Flag Calumet project with a $100,000 Kresge Foundation grant, demonstrates his commitment to leveraging design for social and environmental benefits.

A recognized speaker and published researcher, Carlos has contributed to international conferences and journals, exploring sustainable systems and strategic design. His editorial roles and the Game Changer award by Metropolis magazine for the DREAM:IN Project highlight his influence in designing sustainable solutions globally.
