Sean Baker is a designer, civil servant, and operations manager. His work focuses on improving the operating conditions for design within the Federal Government. Sean is currently the Director of Design Strategy and Operations at The Lab at OPM (The Lab), where he serves a team of designers and government leaders working to address pressing public challenges. The Lab is a trusted advisor and partner for building capacity for design in government. Sean’s operations practice fosters an environment where design, public administration and policy experts learn from one another. During his tenure, The Lab has developed design capabilities across the executive branch, supported the transition of over 100 designers and government leaders into civic design, and established itself as a connector and catalyst in a growing public sector innovation community. Sean holds a master’s degree in Transdisciplinary Design from Parsons School of Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Hunter College.
